Activities

We are very excited to see everyone in August. In order to help ensure we can take advantage of all of the great activities at Castlemartyr Resort and in the surrounding area we have pulled together a list of some of the main ones below. 

Activities for Friday, 8/30/2024 (day before ceremony)

On site

Spa

Hotel has a spa with a variety of treatments available for guests. Please see the brochure for treatments and pricing (link).

It is best to book sooner rather than later to ensure availability.

Tennis

The hotel's 2 courts will be available to our guests from 12pm - 4pm on 8/30, rackets and balls will be provided. If you desire to use the courts at other times please let us know and we can coordinate with the hotel to accommodate based on availability.

Kayaking

The hotel has a small lake and a local company offers kayaking in the form of ~60 minute guided excursions. This will be available between 10 am and 2pm on 8/30.

Cycling

The hotel has a few (2-4) adult bikes and a few children's bikes that can be ridden around the area and will be available to our guests.

Hiking / nature walks

The hotel has a few recommended walking trails of various distances that are accessible from the property.

Golf

Although Castlemartyr has a golf course on site, there is a tournament on Friday, 8/30 so we are not able to use the course (it is available to our guests other days).

For Friday 8/30, Castlemartyr has helped organize tee times and transportation for those interested at the nearby Cork Golf Club (link). Tee times are between 12pm and 12:40pm, transportation will depart Castlemartyr Resort at 11 am.

[Transportation is complimentary, the green fees are 144 Euros, which includes a 10% discount for our group off standard pricing. Golf club rental is limited so please let us know if you need clubs in advance and we will do our best to accomdate]

Jameson Midleton Distillery

An Irish Whiskey Museum and visitor center (link) at one of the old Jameson distilleries that operated from 1825 - 1975, located ~10 min by car from Castlemartyr Resort. Offers a whisky museum and a variety of immersive activities / tours.

  • Distillery experience tour: 75 min Tours available 10 am - 6pm [26 - 31 euro]

  • Distillery tour with whisky tasting: 75 min Tours + tasting afterwards available between 10 am - 6pm [56- 61 euro]

Cobh

Cobh is an a town 25 minutes from Castlemartyr Resort by car. It is on an island in Cork city's harbor and best known as the Titanic's last port of call in 1912 before its voyage. It was also a key embarkation point for Ireland's mass emigration to the US (inverse of Ellis Island).

 

Activities in Cobh: Spike Island (a historic island prison), the Titanic Experience (an interactive museum dedicated to the Titanic), Cobh Heritage Centre (a museum dedicated to naval, maritime and emigration history)
